Sarah

After battling weight issues for years, I had "medical assistance" in 2008.  However, I knew that I could not live a healthy life based upon surgery alone.  Several months before my procedure I began training in earnest with Julie.  I knew that if my body was in a healthier state that my recovery would be quicker and that I would be able to return to work sooner.  Over the past two years, "my" trainer has helped my sculpt my body into a much leaner and healthier form.  I'm doing things I never thought I'd be able to do again - ride a bike, run, and play soccer.

Last year, after a 20 year hiatus, I got on a bicycle and pedaled 180 miles over three mountain passes in three days for the Courage Classic Bicycle Tour.  Three weeks after that I went to eastern Washington and rode 300 miles to support a fundraising effort for Central Washington University.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd be able to do anything like that in my life.  Julie has been supportive, patient, kind, and tenacious.  She wants me to succeed.  My children love their "new" mom.

My current weight loss is over 100 pounds and so many inches that I've lost count.  I've gone from a size 24 to a size 8 or 10.  My sleep apnea has disappeared and so have the blood pressure and thyroid medications.  Getting healthy is not an overnight occurrence.  Taking the first step will allow you to do more than you've ever thought possible.  If you're looking for a personal attention to a healthier lifestyle, Energy Personal Training is the place for you.

For years I put off getting healthy, figuring I always had more time.  After experiencing a heart attack at the age of 48, I realized I couldn’t pretend I was fit any longer.  I met with Bud and his interest and encouragement led me to schedule my first training session with him.  Since then, he has gently encouraged me to do push myself a little more during each session and set goals that were just outside of my comfort level.

In the short time we’ve been working together, I’ve noticed big changes. The biggest change is the complete loss of fear.  I used to worry when we would try something new and would tell myself it was going to be hard.  Now, I know it’s going to be hard, but I’m strong and can accomplish anything. I’ve learned much more about what I’m capable of and am doing things I never dreamed of.  I’ve seen huge changes in my physical appearance, like seeing bones and muscle where I used to see fat. I’m more flexible and not only have I achieved a whole new level of fitness, but Bud has helped my improve my performance on the tennis court by including sports specific exercises in my training programs.

Best of all, Bud is genuinely concerned about me and my progress.  It feels good to know it’s not just me on this journey.  I look forward to training and I can’t imagine my life without this.  I want everyone to experience this too.

I first met Julie last June at a boot camp she was instructing.  At the time I was working with a great trainer at my gym and wasn’t looking for a new one.  During a conversation I learned that she was training a group of bike riders for the Courage Classic and since I wanted to get into road biking invited me to join them.

After getting to know her and talking with her about her Studio, training philosophy and my fitness goals, I decided to go in for an assessment and workout.  I was already fit and was looking for a challenge, someone to push me harder than I push myself and she certainly fit the bill.

Due to the equipment at Energy and the exercises included in my program I have noticed a big change in my core. I especially love the TRX Suspension System that challenges you by producing movement while supporting your own body weight.

Julie puts a lot of time into planning my training program and expects you to put as much into your workouts as she does.  I would certainly recommend her to anyone, especially someone who is looking to be pushed to achieve a new level of fitness.

I walked into Energy Personal Training approximately 9 weeks ago. On that fateful day, I met James (Bud) Barrett and my life has changed tremendously. With his support, and a determination to change my life for the better, I have lost 51 pounds. I understand this is just the beginning of a journey that will bring me closer to living a full and active life with my wife and daughter, but the Energy staff, and Bud in particular, have helped me get off to a successful start.

Energy is not a place where you will find the typical gym atmosphere. Instead, it is a place where you will find caring and motivating trainers. Energy is a place where you can find success.

Thank you Bud, and Energy Personal Training. Through your help, I can see a life full of new experiences because I have the energy and health to get up and do them.

I have  been a client of Energy Personal Training since August of 2008.  When I started I was 285lbs.  My energy levels were low, just a walk up a small set of stairs would put me out of breath.  In the past I started and quit several exercise programs.  Carissa, my trainer has kept me motivated to work-out and offers sound advice on diet to keep healthy.  In my time at Energy I have lost 60lbs.  With the diet and exercise advice I have received I feel 20 years younger.  I would recommend Energy Personal Training to everyone, It was a positive life changing decision for me.

I am a mom, step mom, grandma, mother in law, full time plus worker bee and strong to the core.  I have been working at  Energy Personal Training for one year and I’m in the best shape of my entire life at the age of forty nine.

Injury led to my decision to get professional help in a quest to get healthier.  Since joining Energy Personal Training I have had no injuries.  My overall health and fitness are much improved with the loss of 30 pounds of fat, while building muscle and aerobic stamina.  Carissa, my personal trainer, works me hard and I sometimes plead for the “grandma class,” but she doesn’t cave.  Working out with her is more productive than I could have ever imagined.

Initially my goal was to “look good” for a trip to Mexico which was planned for November of 2009.  Happily, I can say I achieved that goal (relatively speaking) and had one of the best times of my life.  I’m currently working on tweaking down my weight a bit more.  I encourage anyone who wants to lose weight, gain strength and feel wonderful to get a personal trainer with Energy Personal Training.  Goals can be met safely, with plenty of support and encouragement.

Losing weight and changing your body is extremely challenging. It takes time, commitment, and a lot of sacrifice. It's also completely possible.

Julie and her trainers understand how nutrition, movement and mental/emotional health all combine to affect your body, and they put a lot of passion, dedication and personal attention into conveying that information to their clients. I've spent four years working out with Julie. She keeps me motivated, challenged, and supports me.

I have lost and kept off about 20 pounds since I started, which doesn't sound like a lot, but my measurements have changed dramatically, I have increased my stability and strength, and completely changed the way I approach my health. Two years ago I found out I had multiple food sensitivities, and I have been following a wheat, dairy and cane sugar free diet ever since. I practice hot yoga, take step aerobics classes, and train with Julie on a regular basis.

For the first time in my entire life I feel healthy. I even got certified as a Personal Trainer last year (the girl who used to refuse to run in high school P.E. class!) I would never have started on this journey if I hadn't been introduced to it through Energy. Thanks Julie!

I started at Energy Personal Training in July 2009 with the goals of improved health and weight loss.  I attend the group training sessions, led by Carissa, twice a week.  It was hard at first because I hadn’t exercised, other than walking, in a long time.  I would even get nervous before my sessions, wondering to myself what the heck I was doing.  However, it only took a couple of weeks to notice the positive affects on my health and the scale.

Sticking to an exercise program has always been difficult for me but the accountability twice a week to Carissa and myself has kept me going strong.  Carissa has helped me with weight training, cardio, daily caloric needs, and even challenging myself to overcome some of the fears I have regarding certain exercises.  She always seems to know the appropriate level of intensity to make every workout a challenge, yet attainable.  Additionally, she is encouraging me to change the way I think of myself from the fat girl (my words, not hers) to a developing athlete.

After 6 months of training, I have improved my overall fitness level significantly and dropped 50 pounds!  My goal for 2010 is to focus on fitness achievements, like running my first 5K, in addition to continued weight loss.  Investing in my health at Energy Personal Training has absolutely changed my life!
